Rev. Ron Hicks officiated at the services. Burial followed in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West in Hopkinsville.
Spc. Ames died on Wednesday, August 31, 2005, in Mosul, Iraq, of a non-combat injury.
Spc. Ames was born on August 24, 1984, in Flora, Ill. He was the son of Irl Wayne and Susan Arlene Yingst Ames.
Spc. Ames was an active member of the U.S. Army, and was a 2003 graduate of Trigg County High School.
In addition to his parents, survivors include his wife, Trisha Ames of McChord Air Force Base, Wash.; a son, Cody Eric Ames of McChord Air Force Base; maternal grandparents, James and Kay Yingst of Farina, Ill.; maternal great-grandmother, Lorene Cook of Farina, Ill.; paternal grandmother, Norma Ames of Louisville, Ill.; paternal great-grandmother, Violet Yingst of Flora, Ill.; a brother, Carlton Ames of Appling, Ga.; and a sister, Krystal Dawn Knight of Hopkinsville.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund at One Intrepid Square, West 46th and 12th Avenue, New York, NY 10036.
