The most recent sign that was stolen was a large road-side banner that was on the corner of Main Street and U.S. 68/Ky. 80 in Cadiz, Sadler said
“The theft of anti-alcohol signs that have been purchased and placed by TCAA and it’s supporters is out of control,” Sadler said. “We ask for the community’s help in protecting our property from those who feel that only one side has the right of public expression.”
Trigg County Sheriff Randy Clark said that while there have been a few alcohol sign thefts, only one person has been arrested and charged, as with such cases, generally no one witnesses the theft, and these cases are very difficult to prosecute without a suspect or vehicle description.
Almost all of the cases that have been reported to the sheriff’s department have been reports of thefts of anti-alcohol signs, Clark said.
Cadiz Police Chief Hollis Alexander said his department has, to date, received only one report of a stolen sign regarding the upcoming vote.
