Cadiz will serve as a pilot for a program by the Tennessee Valley Authority, wherein TVA will advertise Cadiz’s industrial sites to prospective industries, Cadiz-Trigg County Economic Development Commission executive director Sharon Butts said at the group’s Monday meeting.
“TVA is wanting to do sites that are ‘shovel ready,’ and they’re going to begin the program in Cadiz as a pilot program,” Butts said.
There will be a star rating for individual sites, with 5 stars being the best rating, said Butts, who added that she hoped the Cadiz site gets four or five stars, as she wants it to be marketed by the TVA.
In other business, Seven Springs WLF, LLC, of Trigg County was awarded a bid of about $374,000 for the construction of a storage space at Transcraft.
Butts said the bid was connected to news last week that a Wabash plant in Anna, Ill., that manufactures trailers is to be closed next year, with its manufacturing capability consolidated into the Cadiz Transcraft plant.
“They have to have a place to store the trailers,” Butts said.
The storage facility for the trailers will be located next to the parking lot.
