Funeral services for Teneshia Lenea Wharton, 17, of Hopkinsville, were conducted on Tuesday, September 5, 2006, at 1 p.m., at Virginia Street Baptist Church in Hopkinsville.

Rev. Jerry Jones officiated at the services. Burial followed in the Smith Family Cemetery in Casky.

Miss Wharton died on Tuesday, August 29, 2006, at her residence of natural causes.

Miss Wharton was born on May 5, 1989, in Hopkinsville. She was the daughter of Timothy Ray and Gloria Dillard Wharton.

Miss Wharton was a part-time clerk-cashier for Big Lots; was a member of Allen Grove Baptist Church; was a Christian County High School Student; Former ROTC (Freshman and Sophomore years), CCHS Girls’ Basketball Team; and CCHS Girls’ Track/Field Team.

Survivors, in addition to her parents, include two brothers, Timothy William Wharton of North Carolina and Devon Ray Wharton of Hopkinsville; two sisters, Sylvia J. Peterson and Lekeisha Lynette Wharton, both of Hopkinsville; Maternal Grandparents, Bill and Mamie Dillard of Paducah;; Maternal Grandmother, Yvonne Jefferson of St. Louis, Mo.; and Paternal Grandmother, Mary Ruth Wharton of Cadiz.

Gamble Funeral Home in Hopkinsville was in charge of all the arrangements.
