In a week where wins were more important then most the wildcats had a breakeven week going 2-2 with two hard loses and two wins that kept the Cats season bordering on the .500 mark. The Wildcats will find out Wednesday night where they will be seeded in the upcoming district tournament when a coin toss will decide the seeding with three teams tied for the top spot. Looking ahead to the coming weeks games a busy week starts on Thursday at UHA and then a road trip to Morganfield, Kentucky to play in a tournament at Union County High school on Saturday and then returning Home for Senior Night on Monday the 12th to recognize seniors Tyler Greenman and Jamie Guinn. The Wildcats will also play at Ft. Campbell on Tuesday the 13th.

Trigg County 2 Caldwell 12

Trigg County baseball looks to have hit the marathoner’s “proverbial wall” as the Wildcats were beaten 12-2 Monday at the Princeton VFW Park.  This was a tough loss to swallow for Coach Scholar and his Wildcats.

Caldwell scored five runs in the third inning, four in the fifth, and three more in the sixth inning to end it.  However, Wildcat head coach Jackie Sholar wasn’t around to see the final seven runs scored by the Tigers.

Sholar was ejected in the fourth inning for arguing a pickoff play at third base when he felt like the Wildcats made the play and should have been rewarded with the out call.

“It was the first time I had been kicked out of a game since coaching nine year olds in Indiana,” Sholar said. According to KHSAA rules as a result of the ejection, he was not allowed to coach Trigg’s game Christian County last night.

Trigg took a 1-0 lead when Jamey Guinn’s fielder’s choice grounder scored Donald Bush.  Trigg added a run in the third inning when Guinn singled home Mitch Rogers.  Then Caldwell began their onslaught.

 

Trigg County 13 Lyon County 12

Trigg County held off a late Lyon County rally to beat the Lyons 13-12 in a Sunday afternoon game in the Fifth District.  Mitch Rogers put on a hitting clinic in the win going 5-for-5 at the plate, continuing his hot streak on offense.  He had four singles and a double and scored five runs.

Trigg scored in every inning and led 13-7 heading into the final frame before the Lyons rallied for five runs in the seventh.  They had the tying run at first base when Donald Bush induced the final out of the game to pick up the save.
