The Revs. Eugene Powell and Randall Evans officiated. Burial followed at East End Cemetery. Goodwin Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Pope died of natural causes at 5:20 p.m. Tuesday, August 17, 2010 at Shady Lawn Nursing Center in Cadiz.
Mrs. Pope was employed by the Red Front Store in Cadiz. She was the owner and operator of Stewart’s Market for many years. She retired from Ft. Campbell where she worked in the cashier’s office for the U. S. Army Commissary. After retirement, she worked at Kreative Kampus for many years. She was a member of Cadiz Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James Oscar P’Pool and Elza Mae Aldridge P’Pool; first husband, Garland Wheeler ”Peck” Stewart; husband Lawrence Haydon Pope; three brothers, Jessie D. P’Pool, Earl Alvin P’Pool and Aubrey S. P’Pool; two sisters, Ruth Ann Arnold and Verla Mae Hibbert; one great grandchild, John Mark Adams.
Survivors include one son, Charles Donald (and wife Betty J.) Stewart of Cadiz; one step daughter, Loucretia Ricks of Cadiz; three grandsons, Dennis J. Adams, Charles Bradford and Michael Brent; three granddaughters, Kimberley Adams, Christine and Penny Stewart; one step grandchild, Emily Ricks Fitzsimmons; six great grandsons, Brett Snead, Barron S. Adams, Zachary J. Adams, Clark D. Adams, Christopher A. Stewart, Gregory E. Stewart; two great granddaughters, Leslie Ann Snead and Nadia A. Adams; one great great grandchild, Lyndsey Marie Snead and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Barron S. Adams, Zachary J. Adams, Charles D. Adams, Greg E. Stewart, Chrstopher A. Stewart and Brett Snead. Music was provided by Mary Jane Snyder, pianist, and Roy Marquess, vocalist. Memorials can be made to Cadiz Gideon Camp, P.O. Box 65, Cadiz, KY. 42211.
