With over a year before the general election, political races around the county have already started heating up with three men vying for the magistrate’s seat in Trigg County’s third district.

Current magistrate Gene Wright has said he will not seek reelection due to personal reasons, leaving the door open for anyone who feels able to take the job.

Three Trigg Countians have already announced their candidacy: Edward “Buddy” Gish, Jim Ricks and Bruce Sanders.

Each have long ties to the county, with all having boasted over 20 years of residence here – Sanders and Ricks being lifelong residents.
