According to a KSP report, the accident happened at 9:38 p.m. when 22-year-old Stanley W. Cooper, Jr. of Hopkinsville, suffered a seizure. The accident report said that he ran off the right side of the roadway, then veered off the left. While off-road, the 1996 white Ford Taurus traveled “between 50 to 60 feet” before halting in a heavily wooded area.
The KSP reported that 22-year-old Heather D. McKnight and one-year old Scyvon J. Cooper suffered injuries in the accident. The driver and both passengers used seatbelts or child restraints at the time of the accident. Air Evac Lifeteam transported the elder Cooper to Vanderbilt Medical Center while Trigg County EMS transported both passengers to Murray Calloway Hospital.
The U.S. Forestry Service, Trigg County Rescue and East Golden Pond Volunteer Fire Department assisted the KSP, Trigg EMS and Air Evac at the scene. Trooper Richard Wright continues to investigate the accident.
