Thursday fire damages Cadiz home

A fire that started a while before noon last Thursday left the Jefferson Street home of Arthur and Dorothy Hopson severely damaged inside.

Cadiz Fire Chief Kerry Fowler said the fire started in the kitchen area near the stove and that someone driving by the house noticed the smoke, making 911 call at 11:34 a.m. He said that fire trucks were on their within six minutes. After getting the front door open, firefighters put the fire out within five minutes. Fowler said they remained on the scene for an hour and 10 minutes interviewing the Hopsons and others.
