It was so good to see such a wonderful crowd, darkly dressed with light hearts, populating Perdue Field this Friday past! It was a festive affair as the Trigg County Wildcats wrapped up the district championship with a decisive 35-23 win over Caldwell County. It all started with Josh Adams taking a Will Barnes tipped pass into the end zone to put Trigg on the board first in the second play of the game. Caldwell quickly answered with a touchdown. Then it got down to a good football game. Trigg’s defense looked good and Brandon Bridges was spot on doing some of the best open field running seen this year. I caught up with the running phenom in the last minutes of the game and being a semi-sports reporter asked “whaddup?” and Bridges replied “pickle juice” with his always quick smile. There you have it, another scoop! (I have always liked the term ‘quick smile’ but really never had the opportunity to use it until now. I think saying someone has a ‘quick smile’ speaks volumes about them, don’t you?). Trigg will host Todd County in the first round of the playoffs next month and Caldwell has the unenviable trip to Owensboro Catholic.
