Bill Stevens, executive director of the Cadiz-Trigg County Tourism Commission, told fellow commissioners that certain costs will go down next year with the extension of the main building and the move of all the commission’s operations there.
Stevens also said he is budgeting $7,500 for utilities next year, which is more than $2,000 less than they have spent this year.
Members of the tourism commission also proposed increasing the advertising budget by $10,000 to $56,000, but a final decision wasn’t made on the budget, although they did vote to institute a 2 percent pay increase for part time employees, and also voted to raise Stevens’s salary from $35,535 a year to $37,000 a year.
In other business, the commission decided on tile, paint and countertops for the new building and Stevens gave updates to the commission about his activities during November, including a proposal for advertising on Interstate 24 billboards between Paducah and Cadiz.
Stevens said he has spoken with Dusty Rhodes, and if the commission decides to use Rhodes’s company, such a billboard would cost about $7,500 a year.
The executive director also said he has talked several times with Kevin Perry of Perry Architecture, which are responsible for the renovation efforts, and told commissioners that Builders Drywall of Cadiz are responsible for the sheetrock work.
