After a three-month search, and screening 57 candidates, the Trigg County Tourism Commission selected William C. Stevens, Jr. as its new executive director in a special session on October 4.

Stevens retired from the Kentucky Department of Parks in May 2006. He served as Recreation Director of Lake Barkley State Resort Park, and Park Manager of Blue Licks Battlefield State Resort Park and Columbus-Belmont State Resort Park. He also served as Assistant Park Manager at Lake Barkley, bringing a familiarity of Trigg County attractions to his new position. According to a tourism press release, Stevens makes his home in Cadiz with his wife Faye and two children, Shelby and Clay.

“We culled a large pool into a smaller pool and ended up with three candidates we talked to on a second go-round,” said Tourism Committee Chairman John Rufli. “The outcome was that it is the recommendation of the interview committee that we offer the position to Bill Stevens. He has a lot of experience with local tourism.”

Rufli, a former manager of Lake Barkley State Resort Park, and another member of the commission, current park manager John Rittenhouse know of Stevens’ experience as his supervisors at the park.

According to Rufli, Stevens will sign a one-year contract ending on October 31, 2008 for an annual salary of $34,500. He will receive no additional benefits. Steven’s contract begins on October 15 of this year.
