This year, a total of 1,161 pounds were lost among all who participated, said Audra Hodges of Trigg County Hospital.
The overall winner of the program, which is in its second year, was Lisa Redd, who had an 18.32 percent weight loss, while Ralph Stevens lost the most weight among the men, with 13.85 percent weight loss, said Hodges.
Team No. 2 of Curves, known as the Chickadees, was the team with the most overall weight loss, with a 12.29 percent loss, Hodges said. The team was composed of Joann Harvey, Gay Ledford, Faye Oakley and Wanda Proffitt.
At the first weigh-in on Monday, Feb. 1, 153 people weighed in, while at the Monday, April 26, weigh-in, which was the last one, 88 people weighed in, a total participation rate of about 57 percent, said Hodges.
Hodges has said that the team with the largest percentage of weight lost will receive a trophy and “bragging rights,” while the individual that loses the greatest percentage of weight lost will receive a cash reward, as everyone who participated paid $10 to do so, and that money will go to the winner.
Lori Conger, dietician for Trigg County Hospital, has said that she hopes those who participated will continue to use the methods that helped them to lose weight now that the program is complete.
Hodges said she expects the competition to begin again next year. She added that they have gotten plenty of feedback on the program and will continue to listen to suggestions in order to improve it.
