Trigg County High School assistant principal Rick Larson will be saying goodbye to Cadiz at the end of the month, leaving another administrative position to fill.

Larson has been the high school’s assistant principal for the last six years and will soon be assuming his new position as principal of Russellville High School.

After graduating from Austin Peay University, Larson taught for a year in Clarksville before beginning his career at TCHS in 1983. He taught math and science and also coached several sports. Larson was an assistant football coach from 1983 to 1999 and head track coach from 1994 to 1999. During that time, he also coached boys’ and girls’ basketball.

Larson’s first administrative job was as assistant principal for Logan County High School, a position he kept for one year before coming back to TCHS in 2000 to assume the same job.

Larson said that, after six years, he feels ready to finally be a head principal. He said that he applied to replace the current principal Sharon Knight, who is retiring this year. The site-based council instead selected Chad Pruitt, who is leaving his job as principal of Harrison County High School in Cynthiana.
