School Superintendent Tim McGinnis opened the event by announcing the honorees numbered 404, and gave his thanks to the parents, guardians and members of the community in supporting the efforts of the students.
“The number of the students honored tells me they have a vision and a purpose and relevance 175 days a year,” McGinnis said. He then told the assembled scholars, “Reaching your goals in school is the first step in a prosperous future.”
Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum Mary Ann Lander took the podium next, praising the students. “I am humbled and honored to stand before, and beside these successful students today.” She added that the day’s event was very much an “academic all star game,” within Trigg County Schools.
