At 16 percent, Trigg County also had the highest unemployment rate in the Pennyrile region and in all of western Kentucky. Christian County had a rate of 13 percent, Caldwell County had a rate of 11.4 percent, Lyon County had a rate of 12.6 percent, Mashall County had a rate of 10.8 percent and Calloway County had a rate of 9 percent.
Statewide, Magoffin County had the highest unemployment rate at 19.6 percent, followed by Jackson County at 17.4 percent, Powell County at 16.3 percent, Trigg, Bath and Menifee Counties at 16 percent, Grayson and Menifee Counties at 15.6 percent and Hancock County at 15.4 percent.
Fayette County had the lowest jobless rate at 8.2 percent, followed by Oldham County at 8.6 percent, Boyd County at 8.8 percent, Calloway, Ballard and McCracken Counties at 9 percent and Clinton County at 9.1 percent.
Civilian workforce statistics include non-military workers as well as unemployed residents who are actively seeking work, but don’t include unemployed residents who haven’t sought employment within the past four weeks, Kim Brannock of the Kentucky Education and Workforce Development Cabinet said.
The statistics that were released last Tuesday are not seasonally adjusted to allow for comparisons between national, state and county figures, added Brannock.
