Trigg archery team victorious

The regional NASP tournament was held Saturday at Logan County High School, and Trigg County’s Arrowcats did very well. All three teams advanced to State Competition by taking first place in their divisions.

Teams are composed of 16 to 24 archers and the team score is based on the top 5 of each gender plus the next 2 high scores. State competition will be March 17th in Louisville.

Trigg’s Elementary team took first place over 6 other elementary schools with a team score of 3137 points. Adairville was 2nd with 3006 points and Lewisburg was 3rd. Top ten archers in the elementary boys division were Brent Jones-2nd with 270 points, Devin Litchfield 6th with 263, Brandon Schafer 8th with 261 and Austin Humphries 10th with 258 points. The Trigg elementary girls were very strong led by Kayla Bingham with 265 points good for 2nd place, Alexa Agosto 4th with 264;Brooklyn Stevens 5th with 263, Kaila Cunningham 6th with 261, Elizabeth Wagoner 7th and Virginia Cundiff, Tabby Rawlins and Sarah Shipley rounding out the top 10.

The Middle school team finished with a team score of 3252. Top 10 girls were: Shaye Patterson-2nd with a 284, Patsy Bannister 3rd, Kelsey Miller 5th, Emily Holder 6th, Lexie Hyde 7th, and Shateanna Stewart 8th. Middle School male Arrowcats finishing in top 10 were Ryan McCloud 1st with a 284 followed by Duncan Mangels 3rd, Chance Lancaster 6th, Kendall Merrick 7th and Tyler Knight 10th.

Trigg’s High School Team was led by Grady Cofield with a 291 that placed him 2nd in the male high school division.

Also placing was Timmy Blakeley 3rd, Jordan Futrell 5th, Jeremy Alexander 6th, and Landon Sumner 8th. The high school girls had a strong showing led by Danielle Reddick in first with a 288, Sloan Patterson 2nd with a 286, Emily Shipley 3rd, Ellen Shipley 4th, Jennifer Hyde 5th,Taylor Davis 6th, Christi Wilson 7th and Brianna Messmer 8th. The high school team had a season best 3395 points -3 points more than Henderson High School who was last years state champion.
