The Wildcats posted a school-record 17 wins in a very memorable season.
With the win over Trigg County, Fort Campbell advanced to meet University Heights in the regional championship game. University Heights defeated Caldwell County 3-1 in the other regional tournament contest.
Fort Campbell improved to 12-6-1 after claiming the win.
Trigg County struck first but couldn’t maintain the momentum. Roman Cail scored for Trigg County in the ninth minute. Out in front 1-0, Trigg County was outscored 2-0.
Aldo Torres scored for Fort Campbell less than four minutes later, evening the game 1-1. Torres scored Fort Campbell’s first goal after receiving a pass from Mike Massie.
The two teams were deadlocked 1-1 at the half.
Massie provided the game-winning goal for Fort Campbell in the second half.
Trigg County held a slight 10-9 advantage over Fort Campbell in the shots fired department.
