Trigg County opened the 2005 golf season with a fourth place finish at the season-opening Christian County Invitational Aug. 1 at Novadell Golf Links in Hopkinsville.

Trigg County’s total 302 finished behind Henderson County’s 287 total – which was a new event record, Daviess County’s 298, and Apollo’s 299.

Curtis Mitchell tied for fourth place with a 3-under-par 69 on the par-72 course.

Tyler Mitchell shot a 2-over 74, and Taylor Lowary had a 3-over 75.

Jordan McNichols shot an 84, while Lexie Estes, a sophomore transfer from Marshall County, played on the boys’ team and shot a 102.

Apollo's Chris Conkright edged out Owensboro Catholic's Cameron Carrico in a playoff to win medalist honors. Conkright birdied the third playoff hole to secure the win. Conkright and Carrico shot 5-under-par 67s in regulation.

Trigg County saw their Aug. 4 match at Calvert City postponed.
