Trigg has strong showing at Tilghman Invitational

PADUCAH – Trigg County’s track team recorded 17 top-five finishes and four victories at the Paducah Tilghman Invitational track meet Saturday.

Leading the way for Trigg were Abigail Torian, Janada Acree, Kadijah Grubbs and Shelby Grubbs, who dominated in the 4x100-meter and 4x200-meter relay races.

The Lady ‘Cat group won the 4x100 with a time of 49.86 seconds, over three seconds faster than second-place Union County.

The same group won the 4x200 race in 1:45.10, nearly five full seconds faster than Fort Campbell.

Abigail Torian also won the 100-meter dash with a time of :12.90, and Elizabeth Torian won the shot put with a toss of 29 feet, 5 inches.

Girls 4x800-meter relay: Trigg (Lynease Byers, Monica Jones, DiAsia Acree and Alex Olin), fourth, 11:31;

Boys 4x100-meter relay: Trigg (Sean Beebe, Hakeem Tyler, Dustin White and Jalik Alexander), sixth, :44.4;

Boys 400-meter run: Jakelze Martin, 20th, :59.5;

Girls 800-meter run: Alex Olin, ninth, 2:56; Alison White, 12th, 3:00;

Boys 800-meter run: Jay Jolly, 13th, 2:17.80; Romaine Cunningham, 16th, 2:25.60;

Girls 200-meter dash: Abigail Torian, second, :26.79;

Girls high jump: Janada Acree, third, 4-10;

Girls 4x100-meter freshman relay: Trigg, second, :55.9.

Full team results were unavailable at press time, but Trigg head coach Jim Garnett said the Lady Wildcats finished third behind Fort Campbell and Paducah Tilghman.

Trigg is scheduled to take to the track again Thursday at Calloway County.
