Trigg in district driver’s seat

This week began with Trigg County’s baseball team undefeated against 5th District competition. By the end of the week, they can wrap up the top seed in the district tournament and an automatic berth in the 2nd Region tournament.

The Wildcats went 5-1 last week, improving their overall record to 13-10 and 4-0 in the district.

The week began last Tuesday with a 10-1 victory over district foe Livingston Central.

Trigg did all their damage in the first and fifth innings, scoring five times in each frame. Mitch Rogers hit his first homerun of the season in the fifth.

Donald Bush had the big bat for Trigg, smacking a three-run homerun. Hunter Smillie added a solo shot.

HOPKINSVILLE – Trigg played a doubleheader Saturday at Hopkinsville, losing to Greenwood 12-7 and defeating the host Tigers 5-4.

The ‘Cats bats were solid against the Gators, but Greenwood slugged their way to the win.

Against Hopkinsville, both teams scored their runs early, and Bush recorded a complete game, blanking the Tigers through the final three innings of the contest.

Trigg had no trouble in Monday’s 17-2 win at Fort Campbell.

The Wildcats were scheduled to host Crittenden County on Tuesday. Results were unavailable at press time. Trigg plays Thursday against Heath, Friday at Livingston, Saturday at Hopkins Central and next Tuesday against Christian County.
