The Wildcats went into Jeffery Gym at Calloway last week looking to avenge a lost to Calloway from last season. The Wildcats would finish the Game with Jlik Alexander leading the way with 17 Points followed by Shelton “Mookie” Burress with 13, Jonathan King with 12 and Zeke Wright with 10.

The Wildcats took the ball from the Lakers six times with steals and forced Calloway into making 14 Turnovers. The Wildcat faithful that tracked across the lakes can take great pride in the efforts of the boys as they rocked the boat at Calloway on a stormy night in late January.

The Wildcats came into the January 29th match-up 9-9 overall and looking to stay above .500 after a January 22nd loss to Lone Oak. Meanwhile on the other side Calloway was hoping to get back to its winning ways after dropping 6 of their last 7 games after a 10-2 start to their season.

After a week long layoff the Wildcats came out in the first quarter trying to knock off the rust as Calloway launched into a 23 point run in the first quarter to take a 23-9 lead. A slow but methodical comeback would begin in second quarter behind the hot shooting of Alexander and six points from Wright.

Alexander, who would miss his first free throw of the half, followed it up with hitting his next five from the charity stripe. Shelton “Mookie” Burris would stall a Calloway run half-way through the second quarter swatting a Calloway pass out of bounds on the baseline.

With 3:05 to go in the 2nd quarter Alexander would pick up a rebound under the Calloway basket and take it coast to coast for a lay-up cutting the Calloway lead to 11 (32-21). Burris would end the half on a high note for the Wildcats with a 2 Point Lay-in at the buzzer to leave the Wildcats only down by 10 at the half 37 to 27.
