Trigg County High School student Brucie Lambert will have quite an interesting summer as he tours to 30 different cities to perform with Lexington’s Southwind Drum and Bugle Corps.

“He’s going to a lot of growing up this summer,” said Sara Beebe, Lambert’s mother, to The Cadiz Record last week.

Beebe said Lambert, 17, hadn’t spent much time away from home before, so playing drums with 134 other skilled musicians and traveling all over the country will be a very new experience. Last week, Lambert moved into his quarters in Lexington, where the percussion and brass instrument players will be practicing hard until they begin their tour on June 17 in Pittsburgh.

Beebe said Lambert didn’t join band in sixth grade like most of his peers because he played a lot of soccer when he was younger. His sister, Samantha Lambert, who is two years older, has always been in band and Brucie joined in seventh grade.

“He jumped right in from the start,” Beebe said.

Since that time, he has participated in many band activities, including All District Band and the Wetern Kentucky University Honors Band, she said.
