Trigg wins field battle but loses on scoreboard

In the end Friday night, Calloway County made the plays it needed to make in order to win. Calloway County scored twice in the game’s last four minutes to defeat host Trigg County 35-28 in the Wildcat Chevrolet Bowl at Perdue Field.

Trigg County owned a 28-21 lead when Calloway County mounted a very memorable comeback. Calloway County scored on a 31-yard pass from Casey Brockman to Tyrrell Willis with 4:09 remaining. Following an extra point that was done before it was lofted as a result of a botch, Calloway County faced a slim 28-27 deficit.

Trigg County was forced to punt the football back away with 2:03 remaining.

Willis scored for Calloway County on a 33-yard screen pass with 52 seconds remaining. The Lakers converted the two-point conversion to go out in front 35-28.

Trigg County’s attempt to push the game into an overtime period was stopped when Donald Bush was intercepted with 32 seconds remaining.
