Lake Barkley Insurance and Trigg County Insurance, both of Cadiz, will merge their businesses starting on Jan. 1.

According to a recent announcement, the two firms will conduct business under the name Lake Barkley Insurance, but will be located in the current Trigg County Insurance office at 67 Main St., beside the Janice Mason Art Museum.

Adam Murphy of Lake Barkley Insurance and Clayton Woodall Trigg County Insurance said this merger will give current clients and the outside community more dynamic services and insurance options.

“This merger is going to be good for everyone,” Murphy said. “Being under one roof, we’ll have a lot less overhead.”

Murphy said Lake Barkley Insurance approached Trigg County Insurance about a possible merger a year ago, and that people from both agencies have been working out the best way to handle a merger during that time.

Murphy and Woodall also said that no current policies will be affected by the merger, and phone numbers and e-mail address will also remain the same. Murphy said that there won’t be any jobs lost because of the merger, and that they might even need to hire more people in the coming months.

Woodall said that the only change current Trigg County Insurance clients will see is the name “Lake Barkley Insurance” on their polices, and the only change Lake Barkley Insurance clients will see is a different location.

Lake Barkley Insurance, established in 1997, currently rents office space at 13 Main St., and the owner of that space will continue to rent it out after they’ve moved out, said Murphy.

Woodall said the Woodall Agency purchased Trigg County Insurance from the Trigg County Farmers Bank in 1990, but that the insurance agency had been around for many decades before that. The Woodall Agency web site states that the Woodall Agency itself was established in 1907.

Clayton Woodall and Adam Murphy said they are more than willing to answer questions and discuss the merger with their clients.
