Kentucky State Police were notified of a two-vehicle injury collision on Linton Road one mile south of Canton on June 10. Preliminary investigation at the scene indicated that Shirley Ezell, 67, dropped off of the right shoulder of the highway and overcorrected to the left into the path of the vehicle of Amber Perry, 19. Perry was traveling south. Ezell’s 2003 Ford Taurus struck Perry’s 2001 Chevy Cavalier head-on, bringing both vehicles to final rest blocking the roadway. Both drivers were extricated by mechanical means by the Trigg County Rescue Squad. KSP said that Ezell was transported by ambulance to the Murray-Calloway County Hospital while Perry was airlifted to Vanderbilt University Hospital for multiple injures. Vanderbilt spokeswoman Ashley Hansen said Monday morning that Perry was in stable condition, but said she could not comment on what types of injuries she received. Barbara Williams, a volunteer for patient services at MCCH, said that records did not show Ezell being admitted to the hospital, although she could not say whether or not she had been taken somewhere else.
Kentucky State Police was assisted by the Trigg County Sheriff’s Office, Cadiz Police Department, Trigg County EMS/Rescue, and Air Evac. The investigation continues by TFC. C.G. Anderson.
