Two women suspected of Handy Korner, Hamtown burglaries

One woman was in custody Tuesday morning with another to follow after burglaries were reported at Handy Korner near Rockcastle and Hamtown Stop-N-Go west of Cadiz.

According to a uniform citation signed by Deputy Kenneth Butts, Melissa Jo Kennady, 32, of Lafayette Street in Cadiz, was arrested at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday. The report states she was picked up at Trigg County Hospital after the burglaries were reported. She was read her rights and agreed to talk to deputies, at which time she told them about breaking into the stores, where beer and cigarettes were taken.

Kennady was charged with two counts of third-degree burglary.

Tuesday afternoon, Deputy Dane Hughes said a warrant was issued for Kimberly Ann McCain, 27, of Little River Boulevard. Hughes said McCain would be arrested after being released from Murray-Calloway County Hospital, where she went Tuesday morning to receive medical attention for cuts on her hand. Hughes said McCain would also be charged with two counts of third-degree burglary.
