Can we talk kind readers? I mean really talk? This past week I had the chance to see UHA in action starring Scotty Hopson when they made an unscheduled visit to Wildcat gym. In my article this week I was going to tell you how he was “as advertised” in my opinion; and how he can handle the ball and go through traffic to the hoop getting the points and drawing the foul. I was going to say how he has a great outside game burning the net seemingly without effort. I, like everyone have read all about the guy and his love affair with recruitment. How he’s committed to Mississippi but is still looking around. I’m like Kentucky’s Billy G. when I say once a player has committed, he’s committed, no reason to scout him. I also wanted to speculate about the young man’s future wherever he does finally decide to play, be it Starksville, Mississippi or Podunk Idaho. Once a new player does land at a Division 1 school and gets settled in, I’m pretty sure they stop calling with sweet talk and want to see development. The young man may not be the best player they have ever seen and just might not start much his first year. They may want the inked player to hit the weight room before hitting the floor. I wonder how that’s going to set with the family. I really hope it all works out for him and his family, but it’s a shaky start to say the least. I was going to say all of that but I had a few of my most genteel readers say they had read enough about him, so I’m going to tell you about a trip I made to the other end of the spectrum instead.
