Having only played three games over the past two weeks thanks to Mother Nature the Wildcats began a revised schedule on Monday night with a recently added game against University Heights from nearby Hopkinsville. Just prior to tip-off the school recognized Jonathan King’s 1,000 Point club membership with a small memento and a warm welcome from the crowd. The Wildcats came into Monday night’s contest on an emotional roller coaster after beating Caldwell County Friday night in Princeton, then falling to First Region power Graves County at the fabled Eagles Nest in Mayfield.

The Wildcats would be lead in scoring by Jonathan King with 26 points including a 6of seven from the charity stripe. “Mookie” Burress threw in 14 points including three- “3” pointers, followed by Malik Alexander with 10, Dustin White nine, Zeke Wright seven, and Russell Lancaster of the bench with four. The Wildcats started the first quarter running hard with a very fast and skilled UHA squad out shooting them over the first two minutes and running out to a 10-2 lead at the 5:50 mark when Jonathan King hit two free throws to give the wildcats their first points in the game. The wildcats would pick-up six points from a King Three Pointer and an “Old Fashion Three Point play” by Malik Alexander with the bucket and a foul shot. Cutting the Blazers lead to 13-8 with 4:00 to go in the 1st quarter. “Mookie” Burress would ad to the Wildcats efforts with two-“3” pointers back to back in less than 45 seconds bringing the Wildcats to within two points of the Blazers in the final two minutes of the first quarter. The quarter would end with the Wildcats down 23-18.
