In what feels like a repeat of last May’s pig-stealing shenanigans, seven Ham Festival pigs were knocked over and damaged last week.

Concrete pigs belonging to Cadiz City Hall, Jim’s Music, Heritage Bank, Ham Festival Committee, Loose Treasures Trigg County Realty and Cadiz Custom framing were all apparently knocked over on May 13, said Cadiz Police Chief Hollis Alexander on Monday. The incident was reported to police on May 14. They were all damaged, though to varying degrees. Some had noses chipped and some had ears knocked off, he said. The Heritage Bank pig, however, no longer has a head and is likely beyond repair.

About this time last year, several pigs turned up missing. All but one were later discovered in a open field with a note indicating that the perpetrators were students of University Heights Academy. Alexander said that there had been no evidence to link the incident to UHA, or even any real proof that the pigs were stolen as part of a senior prank.
