Funeral services for Velma Judell Crutcher, 90, of Murray were conducted on Saturday, March 28, 2009, at 11 a.m. at J.H. Churchill Funeral Home.

Revs. Dr. Joe O’Cull and Kerry Lambert officiated at the services. Burial followed in Murray Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Crutcher died on Wednesday, March 25, 2009, at 5:15 p.m. at Murray Calloway Co. Hospital.

Mrs. Crutcher was born on December 22, 1918 in Stewart Co., TN. She was the daughter of the late Wiley Plentis and Nellie Dean Sills Outland.

Mrs. Crutcher was a devoted wife and mother in which she spent her life caring for her family. She was a member of the Locust Grove Baptist Church, there she was a member of the Margaret Richter Sunday School Class.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, William Henry Crutcher, four sisters, Ludie Louise Outland, Opal Crutcher, Ann Allen McQuade, and Robbie Moody, eight brothers, Earl Othel, Elbert Lee, James Gilbert, John Wiley, Geoffrey Dale, Sam, and Henry Russell Outland, one son, Darrel Crutcher and one granddaughter, Alisha Moreland.

Survivors include three daughters and son-in-laws, Shirley and Dorris Jones, Cadiz, Betty and Edward Moreland, Wingo, Helen Spann and Joe O’Cull, Murray, one son and daughter-in-law, Harrel and Jean Crutcher, Dry Ridge, KY, eight grandchildren, Martie and Cheryl Jones, Cadiz, Shannon and Kim Jones, Cadiz, Brian and Debbie Moreland, Wingo, Sonia and Aaron McClung, Princeton, Rickie Dale and Christi Spann, Murray, Wm. Jeremy Spann, Murray, Becky and Bob Buczek, Cary, NC, Jamie and Matt Waman, Winston-Salem, NC, seventeen great grandchildren, one step great grandchild, and one step great great grandchild, three sister-in-laws; Annie Laura Nolin, Mayfield, Ruth Crutcher, Mayfield, and Janetta Nelson, Dover, TN.
