Graveside services for Vernell Black 74, Cadiz will be conducted at 2 p.m. at the Myers Cemetery in Herrick Township, Illinois. King’s Funeral Home is in charge of the local arrangements. Visitation was 5-7p.m. Monday, February 15, 2010 at King’s Funeral Home and will be from 12 p.m. until the service hour Wed-nesday, at Wallace & Carroll Funeral Home in Herrick, Ill.

The Rev. Tim Lourash officiated at the service. Burial followed in the Myers Cemetery in Herrick Township, Illinois.

Mrs. Black died at 11:20 p.m. Friday, February 12, 2010 at Skyline Medical Center, Nashville, Tenn., of natural causes.

Mrs. Black was born January 27, 1936 in Fayette Co., Illinois. She was the daughter of the late Vern Elmer and Valia Marie Evans Lourash.

Mrs. Black was retired from Motorola Phone Company. She was a member of Ponderosa Baptist Church, in Trigg County.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Merril George Pope, one daughter, Ann Marie Black, 1972, and one brother, Allen Fravela.

Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Dan and Pamela Pope, Cadiz, two sons and daughter-in-laws, Nanci and Allen Amundsen, Arab, Alabama, melody and ed Polanec, Cadiz, two brothers, Waller Lourash, Decatur, Illinois, Gerald Fravela, Huntsville, Alabama, ten grandchildren, and twelve great grandchildren.
