Mrs. Gray passed away on Saturday, February 26 at Palm Garden of Gainesville.
Born to Aubrey Heflin and Bertha Entrekin Heflin in the Pine Grove Community of Purvis, Miss., on July 5, 1921, DeVera was raised in Hattiesburg and Port Gibson, Miss. She was baptized at age 15 and remained a Baptist for 36 years before joining the Christian Church. She was a graduate of Port Gibson High School where she was valedictorian of her senior class in 1939. She was married for 50 years to William George Gray, who died in 1992.
She resided in Madisonville from 1947 to 1977 and retired in Cadiz from 1977 to 1994 before moving to Gainesville. She was a beautician and proprietor of the Bonton Salon in Madisonville. She belonged to the Genealogy society in Madisonville and the Newcomers Club in Cadiz.
Survivors include two daughters, Renae Clements (Bill) and Rhonda Osborne, both of Gainesville; a son, William Donald Gray (Elaine) of Gainesville, and a son David Fredrick Gray of Columbia, S. C., eight grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
