Before entering a closed-door session to discuss the litigation between Cadiz, Headley Bluff and residents of Apache Heights, the Cadiz City Council read a number of ordinances on Tuesday, Sept. 6 that were later approved at its special session on Thursday, Sept. 8, including one raising water and sewer rates.

Councilmember Donna McNichols said the old rates were “somewhat out of line with other communities.”

With the new billing plan, the minimum water rate for a customer in the city limits with a 3/4-inch connection is $10.82 for the first 2,000 gallons, up 52 cents. Their sewer rate would also be $10.82, up $1.18.
