The Cadiz City Council met Thursday, October 14 and voted to raise the existing water and sewer rates by five percent.

The minimum monthly water rate for the first 2000 gallons in a residential home will increase from $9.81 to$10.30. This is for homes located in the Cadiz City limit. Homes outside the city will see the increase for the first 2000 gallons to increase from $11.80 to $12.39. There will also be a five- percent increase on all water used after the minimum 2000 gallons.

The minimum rate for the sewer inside the city will be $9.18. The minimum fee for the sewer outside of the Cadiz City limit will be$11.31.

All new customers in the City of Cadiz Waterworks will pay a security deposit on the new services requested. Residential homeowners will pay a $35 deposit and all residential renters will pay a $75 deposit. The deposit for business or commercial buildings will be $65.

The rate for the disconnection/reconnection penalty fee that occurs due to delinquent bills has also increased. The former rate of the fee was $10 and it has been raised to $25. A bill must be paid within 15 days of its due date or the city can disconnect water privileges.

The increase on water rates will take effect immediately.
