This night stacked all the odds against the Wildcats. With fatigue setting in, the team started the game out slow and it was obvious that the Wildcats were in trouble from the start. Jonathan King manned-up and played sick and led the Wildcats with 34 points on the night as well as picking up 11 rebounds, Dustin white and Malik Alexander chipped in 8 apiece in the loss.
The Wildcats opened the first period sluggish and tired it took the Wildcats most of the first quarter to get in gear. Near the end of the period Zeke Wright hits a 3 and a King Steal and lay-up put the Wildcats up 14 – 12 at the end of the first quarter.
Todd Central would inbound the ball to start the second quarter and tie the game at 14 all. Todd Central would get the lead back and hold a two point lead till Dustin White the game for the Wildcats with 5:31 left in the half. Just over a minute later King would put the Wildcats back on top 18-16 with a put back of his own shot. The Wildcats and Todd Central would trade the lead for the next couple minutes till a Todd Central run ended the half with Trigg down by Six 25 – 31.
Todd Central came out in the second half firing on all cylinders and held the Wildcats at bay till King hit the Wildcats first points of the half at the six minute mark in the third quarter. King’s four quick points would be overshadowed by Todd Central having trouble missing any shot they launched.
With 3:30 left in the quarter Coach Wright called a timeout to try to stop the momentum. Todd Central was on outscoring the tiring Wildcats 19-11 in the first 4:30 of this quarter. Jonathan King continued to play the role of “Superman” hitting a 3 just before the buzzer to cut the Rebel lead to 9 ending the quarter with Todd Central up 54 to 46 over the Wildcats.
With an adrenaline rush kicking in, the Wildcats opened the quarter with the ball and a Dustin White basket followed shortly after by a King put back of Malik Alexander’s missed shot. The Wildcats kept things going with in a 2-3 possession margin, baskets from King, and an acrobatic shot by Alexander cuting the Rebel lead to 7 with 4:55 to get in the third quarter.
