Youth showed up and put on a clinic in the Wildcats high scoring affair with Dawson Springs as RJ Sholar and Hunter Smillie combined to score six of the Wildcats 15 runs and the two knocked in five of the other runs in the game. Senior Jamie Guinn pitched a complete game throwing six strikeouts over 5 innings and only giving up two walks.
ahead the Wildcats will finish up regular season baseball play this week with a Home game at the complex Thursday night facing Hopkins County Central, then the start of a long road swinging that takes the Cats to Muhlenberg South on Friday and Marshall County on Saturday before starting the district tournament in Eddyville Monday night at 5:00 p.m. and the chance to play in the district championship game on Tuesday at 5:30 if the Wildcats win on Monday.
Owensboro Sr. 14
In the second game of the day, Trigg County lost in a way that drives most coaches crazy in 14-0 loss to Owensboro. Trigg pitchers actually combined to no-hit the Devils on the day. However, Owensboro took advantage of 11 errors and an incredible 17 walks to post the lopsided win.
Getting a spot start, Jared Stallons had two hits for the Wildcats.
Union County 6
The loss to Union County overshadowed a record-setting day by Wildcat shortstop Donald Bush, who hit three home runs in the game, tying the record set by in 1981.
Bush also drove in all five runs at the plate. On the mound, he pitched a complete game, striking out 16.
