Trigg County improved to 5-0 Friday night after claiming a hard-fought 76-68 win at home over familiar 5th District rival Crittenden County. The Wildcats outscored Crittenden County 23-13 in the opening quarter and withstood more than one Rockets rally en route to the win. Senior guard Jonathan King pushed in a game-high 34 points to lead the Wildcats.

Crittenden County dropped to 0-3 following the loss to the Wildcats.

“Crittenden County’s record doesn’t indicate how good of a basketball team they actually are,” said Trigg County Coach Mike Wright. “They’re an athletic team that penetrates hard. Fortunately, we were able to make some stops and hit shots on our end.”

Senior forward Dustin White and senior guard Shelton Burruss joined King in double figures for Trigg County with 13 points apiece.

"Jonathan King had a monter game and he got some good help from Dustin White and Shelton Burruss," Wright confided.

Junior forward Zeke Wright narrowly missed double figures for Trigg County, scoring nine points for the triumphant team.

After entering halftime out in front 34-31, Trigg County outscored Crittenden County 24-17 in a key third quarter.

Gaige Courtney led Crittenden County with a team-best 22 points. Senior guard Cody Dunham scored 13 points and sophomore guard Casey Oliver added 10 for the Rockets.

Trigg County will venture to Lyon County Friday night for a pivotal early-regular season 5th District game.
