Trigg County opened up their 2004 golf season with a convincing win at the Christian County Invitational held Aug. 2 at the Links at Novadell Course.

Tyler Mitchell and Bradley Sutherland each carded 70s to lead the Wildcats to a team score of 298. Daviess County was second with 305, and Glasgow was third in the 18-team field with 307.

Using a scorecard playoff, Mitchell finished second and Sutherland third.

Curtis Mitchell shot a 6-over 78, while Taylor Lowary shot an 80, and Jordan McNichols an 84 for the Wildcats.

Hopkinsville’s Mitchell Moore fired a 4-under-par 68, good for a new course record.

Trigg County returns to action Thursday in a triangular match against Calloway County and Murray at Miller Golf Course in Murray.
