Funeral services for William Maurice Long, 86, of Princeton, were held on Saturday, May 24, 2014, at Morgan’s Funeral Home in Princeton. Bruce and Becky Hillyard officiated. Burial with full military honors followed at Green Hill Memorial Gardens in Christian County.

William Long passed away following a long illness at 5:40 a.m. on Wednesday, May 21, 2014, at Caldwell Medical Center in Paducah.

William was born on March 24, 1928, in Ohio County to Maurice and Violet Allen Long.

He was a Sr. Ranger at Lake Barkley where he worked under the direction of the state police. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and was a military veteran.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by, three brothers, Jack, Dudley and Danny Long; one son, Ron Long; one daughter, Christy Hill; and one step-daughter, Jeanie Marie Johnston.

He is survived by his wife Barbara Clark Long of Princeton; one sister, Norma Long of Somerset; three sons, Mark Long of Palm Bay, Fla., Kelly Long (and wife Dawn) of Cadiz and Nathan Long of Princeton; one step-daughter, Carrie Lynn Gray (and husband Jimmy) of Cadiz; daughter-in-law Cindy Long of Eddyville; several grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and one step great-grandchild.

Serving as pallbearers were Clinton Long, Jacob Long, Chandler Long, Chuck Robinson, Jimmy Gray and Jesse Phillips. Honorary pallbearers were Lou Retalick, Kenneth Guinn and Rev. Archie Brock.
