Funeral services for William O. “Billy” Allen, Jr. 69, of Cadiz, were conducted on Tuesday, June 27, 2006, at 2 p.m., at Goodwin Funeral Home.

Rev. Paul Cannon officiated at the services. Burial followed in East End Cemetery in Cadiz.

Mr. Allen died on Sunday, June 25, 2006, at 12:12 a.m., at his Cadiz home, following a long battle with cancer.

Mr. Allen was born on December 18, 1936, in Pickwick Dam, Tenn. He was the son of the late William Orval, Sr., and Ruth Moorefield Allen.

Mr. Allen was an aircraft pilot, having owned and operated Hopkinsville Flying Service and Allen Aviation in Hopkinsville. He was former manager of Hopkinsville-Christian County Airport in Hopkinsville. In 1977 he won the first and only National Ag Pilot Championship competing with pilots from across the U.S.A. and foreign countries. In 1986, he became a corporate pilot with MSI, Inc., in Atlanta, Ga. During his years in aviation, he logged over 40,000 hours. In 1988, he received his Real Estate License and joined Harry Norman Realtors. In October 2005, he joined Crye-Leike Realtors. He was a member of Cadiz Masonic Lodge No. 121; a 32nd Degree Mason; Member of Rizpah Shrine Temple; a member of Canton Baptist Church; and was a U.S. Air Force veteran.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Stephanie Anne Allen in 1976.

Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Betty Jo Cossey Allen; a son and Friend, William O. “Bill” Allen, III and Kim Kasperski of Hopkinsville; sister and brother-in-law, Peggy and Larry Kemp of Cadiz; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Alfred and Sondra Cossey of Cadiz; three nephews, Allen Thomas, Mark Thomas, both of Cadiz, and Al Cossey of Greer, S.C.

Serving as pallbearers were Bernard Redd, Gayle Clayton, Ray Noel, Chuck Sutherland, Chappell Wilson, and Glyn Simpson.

Honorary pallbearers were Bill Brummett, Allen Thomas, Mark Thomas, Al Cossey, Eric Mitchell, Jimmy Dawson, Ray Burnam, Billy Redd, Bobby Clement, Rick Clement, Wayne Gardner, and Jack Simpson.

Vickie Ezell, vocalist, and Beth Taylor, pianist provided the music.
