Funeral services for William Oscar “Doc” Shelton, 84, of Bumpus Mills, Tenn., formerly of Trigg County, were conducted on Friday, July 8, 2005, at 11 a.m., at Goodwin Funeral Home.

Rev. Wayne Glass officiated at the services. Burial followed in Lawrence Cemetery in Cadiz.

Mr. Shelton died on Wednesday, July 6, 2005, at 2:15 a.m., at Trigg County Hospital of natural causes.

Mr. Shelton was born on April 17, 1921, in Cadiz. He was the son of the late William “Buck” and Grace Sholar Shelton.

Mr. Shelton was employed by Kentucky Department of Highways as a Foreman and served as Magistrate; was a member of Pugh Flat Baptist Church; and was a member of the Canton Masonic Lodge.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Kathryn Forguson Shelton; and five sisters, Esther Stallons, Oni Walker, Mary Lou “Tiny” Bagby, Lucy Adams, and Lorene Colson.

Survivors include his wife, Mamie Page Shelton of Bumpus Mills; a son, Larry William Shelton of Goodlettsville, Tenn.; a brother, Ira Ewing Shelton of Cadiz; a stepdaughter, Regina Nelson of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; two stepsons, Gary Hopkins of Dover, Tenn., and Gerald Johnson of Bumpus Mills, Tenn.

Music was provided by Martha Fortner, organist.
