Rev. C.R. Terry officiated at the services. Burial followed in the New Crown Hill Cemetery in Cadiz.
Mr. Wharton died on Saturday, March 18, 2006, at 9:14 a.m., at his residence of natural causes.
Mr. Wharton was born on September 17, 1925, in Trigg County. He was the son of the late Frank Noel and Lottie Bell Wharton.
Mr. Wharton was a member of the Second Baptist Church in Cadiz; Chairman of the Deacons; Brotherhood; Sunday School Teacher; Superintendent of Sunday School; Church Clerk; Male Chorus; Chairman of Church Anniversary Committee; and organizer of Annual Church Easter Sunrise Breakfast; and was retired after 44 years as Certified Master Auto Mechanic.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Allen Wharton Wharton of Cadiz; a son, Willoyd G. Wharton, Jr. of Hopkinsville; three daughters, Patricia Rembert of Evansville, Ind., Diana White of Hopkinsville, and Tameka Jackson of Elizabethtown; a brother, Phillip Chester Wharton, Sr. of Indianapolis, Ind.; four sisters, Betty Goins of Cadiz, Maggie Lander of Gracey, Emma Thomas of Hopkinsville, and Ora Norris of Marion, Ind.; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Gamble Funeral Home in Hopkinsville was in charge of all the arrangements.
