Will Stagner goes from catching the first game of the day Saturday and the first 5 innings of the second game to relief pitching for the last 2 innings of the day. Stagner also knocked in the game winning double in game 1 saturday against Clarksville Northwest High School.
Trigg County’s Will Stagner took time off from his duties behind the plate to pick up a 23-5 district win against Lyon County.
Trigg County 2 Livingston Central 3
The Wildcats went into Monday night’s game on a having won seven of their last nine games, including the demolition job done on district foe Lyon County. Livingston Central scored first, putting up one run in the first inning. Both teams held their bats in check until the sixth inning when Livingston Central broke through and took a 2-0 lead over the Wildcats. Trigg would tie the game up scoring two runs in the top of the seventh inning.
In the bottom of the seventh, Livingston Central scored the winning run on a Trigg County wild pitch, giving the Cardinals a district win over the Wildcats.
The Wildcats were led by Will Stagner’s 2-4 performance at the plate, including a double in the game. Shane Banks took the loss for the Wildcats and went two-for-three at the plate.
The Wildcats return to action when they go to Crittenden County on Thursday before coming home to host UHA on Friday. They play a doubleheader at Hoptown on Saturday first facing Hopkinsville at 1 p.m. and then Greenwood at 3 p.m. Monday the Wildcats return to “The Complex” to face Lyon County and then take a bus ride over to Dawson Springs on Tuesday the 29th.
Trigg County 8 Montgomery Central 3
Trigg County won their third straight game and improved their record to 8-6 with a win over Montgomery Central Saturday in the final game of the Toyota of Hopkinsville Town and County Classic at Christian County.
