Kentucky State Police officials reported a single-car injury accident on I-24 at 11:22 p.m.

The KSP report said that while heading westbound, 39-year-old Debra L. Schlaiss of Belvedere, Tenn. lost control of her 2006 Saturn Ion and drove off the left shoulder of the highway where she struck a guard rail and bridge abutment.

Trigg County Sheriff Randy Clark said that an Air Evac Helicopter landed on the freeway and transported Schlaiss to Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville for treatment. Though Clark did not specify injuries, he said that he believed them to be “non-life threatening.”

A passenger identified only as a 10-year-old male survived the crash without injury.

In addition to the KSP, Trigg County Sheriff and Air Evac, the Trigg County Rescue Squad, Montgomery Volunteer Fire Department, Trigg County ambulance and Trigg County Rescue assisted at the scene.

Kentucky State Police Public Affairs Officer Trooper Barry Meadows said that he did not know if any environmental factors or driver errors contributed to the accident.
