For the third time in Cadiz World Help’s International Children Choir drew a rapt crowd of the area’s faithful.

World Help is a nondenominational Christian charity that sponsors children around the world by providing food, clothing, medical attention and educational opportunities, according to their Web site, www.worldhelp.net. They also distribute Bibles and try to start new churches to spread the Gospel.

The last concert by the choir was in October 2006, and was the first one in the Trigg County High School Little Theater. It was the third concert that Crossroads Fellowship Church had sponsored in Cadiz.

“If you leave here tonight without being full of joy, there’s something wrong with you,” said Pastor Geoff Baggett as he introduced the choir, which is made up of World Help-sponsored orphans from several countries. The group was made up of different children than the ones who visited last year, and was directed by a different married couple. Many of the songs from last year were featured again. The children sang in several different languages, bringing a very literal meaning to the line, “Jesus loves the little children of the world.

The choir was led by directors Elijah and Meredith Goad. As the children belted out praise songs and leapt around the stage dancing and holding props, Meredith directed from the front row, putting every bit as much energy into the proceedings as the children as she excitedly bobbed in her seat and waved her arms.

“We’ve been married five years—15 kids,” Elijah said to the crowd midway through the show. “All of these children have two things in common: they have the love of Jesus within them and they are part of the World Help Child Sponsorship Program.”
