“We have had enough kids for an elementary, middle, and high school team for the past few years,” said Wright over the phone, “I wrote the letter to try and let them know about the safety issue of the kids.”
The letter states that “an evolution has taken place” in the cross-country program over the last few years and that nearly every school has a middle school cross-country team now. There are separate meets and invitationals for middle school only and there is even the KTCCCA Middle School State Championship for cross-country now which is held in Lexington every November.
