Wright, King lead pace Wildcats in season-opening win.

CADIZ – Zeke Wright and Jonathan King each registered a double-double Tuesday night as host Trigg County defeated Fulton City 64-57 in a non-district boys’ high school basketball matchup that served as the season-opener for both programs.

Wright scored a game-high 25 points and pulled down 11 rebounds to lead the way for the Wildcats. King tossed in 19 points and grabbed 11 rebounds for host Trigg County.

Trigg County produced baskets on the offensive end – both inside and out – during the non-district game. Wright hit a trio of three-point field goals.

The two teams played even in the opening period as the initial quarter ended in a 10-10 tie. Trigg County outscored Region One member Fulton City 16-9 in the second quarter on its way to a 26-19 halftime lead. The Wildcats pushed out in front by a double-digit margin in the second half, outscoring Fulton City 23-15 in the third quarter.

Five different players accounted for all of the Trigg County scoring. Shelton Burruss scored seven points, Bradley Davis dumped in eight and Dustin White netted five for the Wildcats.

Jacquise Lockett led Fulton City, scoring 15 points. Senior guard Aaron Wilson – ranked as the top player in the 1st Region – netted 14 points for the Bulldogs. Taylor and Young narrowly missed reaching double figures scoring for Fulton City. Both Taylor and Young scored nine points.

Trigg County , following the win over Fulton City, went back to work in practice in preparation for an all-important 5th District game Friday night versus Livingston Central.
