According to Teachers’ Aide Cheryl Bowers, students are given a test each spring to determine their reading level and “comfort zone.” They earn points towards rewards by reading a book at or above their comfort zone and completing a comprehension test in which they must correctly answer at least three out of five questions. With these points come rewards.
Every student at Paragon had earned at least 100 points. The party was paid for by the Elementary School PTO.
In addition to the pizza party, the 100 Point Club Members were given Wal-Mart gift cards. Each student got at least $10 worth. The top three finishers found their rewards were much greater.
