Mrs. Stallons died of natural causes at 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 11, 2011 at her home in Cadiz.
She was born October 24, 1923 in Lyon County to the late John D. Gray and Julia Cunningham Gray.
Zelma was a member of the East Cadiz Baptist Church where she was a member of the Baptist Women, past Sunday School Teacher and VBS Teacher. She was a homemaker and a member of the Gideons Auxiliary as well as a past volunteer patient advocate for Trigg Manor Nursing Home.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Edward Stallons; three brothers, George “Buck” Gray, John E. “Bill” Gray, J T Gray in infancy; three sisters, Nora Lee Gray in infancy, Nellie Ramey and Anna Oliver; two sons, Jimmy and Jerry Stallons; and one grandson, Chris Lake Stallons.
She is survived by one brother, Lawrence Gray (and wife Dorothy) of Evansville, Ind.; one sister, Polly Hammock (and husband Ray) of Mackinaw, Ill., one sister-in-law, Earlene Gray of Cadiz; two daughters, Martha Edwards (and husband Jim) of Cadiz and Rita Stewart of Cadiz; two daughters-in-law, Faye Stallons of Hopkinsville and Fely
Stallons of Cadiz; 12 grandchildren, Jerri Dawn Turner of Smiths Grove; Rita Faye Stallons of Davao, Phillipines; Lance Stallons of Cadiz; Russ and David Stallons of Hopkinsville; Stephen Stallons of The Woodlands, Texas; Andrea McAtee, Amanda Sholar , Christy Oliphant and Amy Coleman, all of Cadiz; Jamus Edwards of Owensboro; and Tonya Oakley of Hopkinsville; 28 great grandchildren, Julia Rhea, Justin Michael and Jordan Leanne Turner, Landan Harding, Tanner Lance, Alyssa Joy and Josie Faye Stallons, James Caleb, Jacob Russell and Kelsey Marie Stallons, Rebecca Paige, David Aaron and Bethany Mae Stallons, Laurie Elizabeth, Stephen Ethan and Mason Phillip Stallons, Stephanie Grace, Jamus Dale and Anne Marie McAtee, Thomas Carter and Mary Madeline Sholar, John Grady Oliphant, James Gregory, Ellie Anne and Silas Cruse Edwards, Amelia Grace and Gavin Gray Coleman, and Olivia Ann Oakley.
Pallbearers were Lance, Russ, David and Stephen Stallons, Jamus Edwards, Scott Turner, Jimmy McAtee, Matt Sholar and John Oliphant.
Music was provided by instrumentalist, Clarence King and Suellen Hendricks. Vocalist were Russ and Faye Stallons, Annie Leigh Edwards, great grandchildren, the Stallons Family and congregational singing led by Lance Stallons.
